Between Bago and Kyaiktyo

This little slice of heaven is located in a Papaya field next to the road to Kyaiktyo. 100% of all possible dunniness for Western fixtures, use of minimal space, location, and timing. The one question Clear brought up was; Why are papaya plants always next to toilets? I'm off to the fruit stand.

Road to Kyaiktyo

Clear's favorite dunny yet! Camoflauged latrine - no, that's not just a bunch of bamboo poles. Once she understood what Clear was asking for, the cafe's hostess was happy to show her the way to this winner. Four dunnies for clever use of steep hillside, local building materials, and efficient use of resources. One half dunny taken away due to exposure to road below. One half dunny taken away for keen balance and depth perception requirements. Unsafe after 2 or more bottles of beer.

Pyay

When a bus drops you off at 3:30 in the morning and you stagger off under the weight of your backpack to find a guesthouse and you wake the hotel's mistress who shows you the $6 room and motions to a closed door as being your private attached bath and too tired to check it out you ask yourself, "How bad could it be?"... this is your answer. One dunny for running water. One dunny taken away for mosquitos breeding in standing water on floor. One dunny for Western "sit-down" toilet. One dunny taken away for the fact that under no circumstances would you EVER sit down!

Burmese Train Between Yangon and Bago

While we are on the subject of trains... This little box was like solitary in a Turkish prison. The one upside was that I did get to mark a good deal of the Burmese countryside for my own. One dunny for the view of the tracks.
